On 15 February 2024, an employee of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Sabirzyanova L.I. gave a lecture on “Winter fun in Russia” for 22 pupils of Bolgar cadet boarding school.
Winter has long been a time of entertainment and amusement in Russia: all seasonal field work was completed and there was more free time, so young people invented various ways to have fun and please everyone else.
In Russia, games were favorite at all times – they had a truly mass character and were distinguished by a huge variety. Games reflected the spirit of the people, its history and occupied an important place in people’s lives. They were not only entertainment, games promoted live communication between people and remained the main means of physical education, developing strength, agility, speed, marksmanship and other qualities.
During the lecture, pupils learnt about the games played by our ancestors, the importance and necessity of sports for physical health, and talked about modern games and sports. At the end of the lesson, pupils took an active part in a quiz.
