On 14 February 2024, the opening of the exhibition “Remembering Afghanistan” took place at the exhibition area of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization.
35 years have passed since that February day in 1989, when the last Soviet soldier left the land of the Republic of Afghanistan. 650 thousand of our soldiers passed through the “millstones of Afghanistan”. Today they are the keepers of the memory of that war, of feats, of glory, of fallen comrades-in-arms.
On 15 February 2024 will be 35 years since the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan. Our exhibition “Remembering Afghanistan” is dedicated to this tragic heroic event of recent history. The exhibition presents photographic material from the period of the war in Afghanistan, post-war photos provided to the museum-reserve by our fellow countrymen who participated in the war. The exhibition will tell about those who fought and those who did not return from the flames of the tragic Afghan war, about the courage of our compatriots.
