On April 14, 2023, employees of the department of excursions of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Galimullina N.R. and Glavnova V.N. for eight children of Bolgar sanatorium-type residential school held an informative-educational event on “Bulgar bronze locks”.
In the middle ages when the art of metalwork was not familiar to all, locks and keys to them seemed mysterious things, which could only be possessed by noble or wealthy people. Keys with a circular ornament were a symbol of mystery disclosure. They were mainly worn on the waist belt. As long as the master had the keys, he was sure that the house and property were safe.
At the event, students learned the history of our region, became acquainted with the development of crafts in Volga Bulgaria, with the technology of making locks and the principle of their work. Children saw the products of ancient artisans, colored souvenirs with their own hands and received them as a gift.
