On March 27, 2023, an employee of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Galimullina N. R. for 14 students of Bolgar sanatorium-type residential school held an event on “Bolgar duck”.
On some of the exhibits of Bolgar Museum-Reserve, there are images of birds. Women’s temple pendants in the form of a ring with a duck – a masterpiece of Volga Bulgars’ jewelry craftsmanship – especially attract many people’s attention. The work of jewelry art is associated with the mythological and cultural heritage of the Turkic world.
During the event, children immersed into the past, listening to ancient Bulgars’ legends. According to them, it was a duck that brought the first piece of land from under water, from which the land was formed and the world arose. Kids collected jigsaw puzzles with images of Bolgar ancient gold jewelry and found images of birds on the exhibits of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization. At the end of the event, everyone colored a picture of a unique Bolgar ornament as a memento.
