On 21 March 2023, a staff member of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Salimova G. I. held an interactive event on “Architecture of Volga Bulgaria” for the students of the 8th grade of Bolgar comprehensive school №1.
The emergence of cities and urban culture in Volga Bulgaria is closely linked to the adoption of Islam in 922. The state came into quite a wide contact with Muslim world. This had an impact on the architecture of Volga Bulgaria. There was geographical and historical literature about Volga Bulgaria of the Arabic-Persian dark ages.
The study of the architecture of Volga Bulgaria is of great importance because this state played a significant role in the development of architectural appearance of modern cities located in its territory. Therefore, without awareness of architecture of Volga Bulgaria we cannot fully understand the advantages of cities where we live.
During the event, children learned about the history of emergence of Volga Bulgaria and the preserved architectural monuments in the territory of Bolgar Museum-Reserve. Kids also heard some beautiful legends.
