On February 27, 2023, a research associate of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Mukhamedov V. A. held an event on “Weapons and armor of the Golden Horde” for the students of Bolgar secondary school № 2. The event was conducted with the purpose of historical education of the younger generation on the history of their native land.
The Golden Horde is one of the most significant and powerful states of the Eastern Europe during its history. The Golden Horde reached its heyday at the beginning of the 14th century, and its army from the very beginning of its existence terrified its enemies and, on the contrary, inspired its allies. Undoubtedly, the study of the military affairs of the Golden Horde will help to understand both the reasons for the success of the state at the initial stage of its existence and the reasons for its fall.
During this event, students saw the pictures of armament samples of the Golden Horde warriors, learned about the types and characteristic features of their armor, as well as about the peculiarities of combat.
