On February 27, 2023, an employee of the excursion department of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Glavnova V. N. held a lecture on “The history of development of crafts in Volga Bulgaria” for the students of Bolgar boarding school for children with disabilities.
Volga Bulgaria was a country with a highly developed economy based on agriculture, domestic and foreign trade and craft production. The production objects discovered during excavations clearly testify to the high level of urban artisanship. The leading branches of handicraft production were ferrous metallurgy and metalworking.
During the lecture, children became acquainted with the development of crafts in Volga Bulgaria. They learned what tools were used by craftsmen who knew all the subtleties of technology available at the time.
During the interactive excursion, children found archeological objects in showcases, replicas of which were distributed to them. To consolidate the material, there was a quiz, in which kids with interest participated, and solved riddles.
