On 17 February 2023, a staff member of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Bitunova Y. A. held a lecture on “Traditions of celebrating Maslenitsa in Rus” for 15 students of Bolgar secondary school №1.
Maslenitsa is one of the merriest holidays of the year widely celebrated in Russia. It reflects the traditions of many centuries cherished and passed on from one generation to the next. The holiday lasts a week and includes a ceremony with songs, round dances and games devoted to farewell to winter and welcoming of spring.
At the lecture, children watched a presentation, learned about the history and traditions of celebrating Maslenitsa. At the end of the lesson, students actively played riddles and shared stories about their family holiday traditions.
