On 11 February 2023, an employee of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Sabirova L.A., together with specialists of the State Autonomous Institute of Social Services of Spassky district “Rassvet”, for 11 students of Bolgar boarding school held a patriotic event on “A soldier does not choose war” timed to coincide with the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.
The Afghan war went down in history and took many thousands of lives of soldiers who fulfilled their duty outside the Fatherland. On 15 February 1989, the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan was completed. On this day, we remember veterans of the war in Afghanistan, compatriots, Soviet soldiers and officers who did not return from the war.
The day of 15 February is not only a tribute to the memory of all those who died, but also an expression of deepest gratitude to all those who returned home, who fulfilled their military duty honestly and courageously in the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan.
At the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization, the participants observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims, after which they visited the exhibition “On the roads of Afghanistan”. The event continued with a quiz. The students participated very actively and received memorable gifts. At the end of the meeting, the excursion around the exposition of the museum was conducted for the children.
Time has its own memory – history. The world never forgets about the tragedies that shook the planet in different epochs, including cruel wars that took millions of lives, threw civilizations back and destroyed great values created by man.
