On January 27, 2023, employees of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization T.G. Zarifullina, T.P. Kamaeva and V.A. Salnikova held an information and educational lesson “Pages of the blockade’s eternity” dedicated to the Day of lifting of Leningrad blockade. The event was conducted for 17 8th grade students of Bolgar cadet boarding school.
January 27, 1944 is the date of the complete lifting of the German-fascist blockade of Leningrad. On September 8, 1941, Leningrad was completely blockaded by German troops from the land. The siege of Leningrad began and lasted almost 900 days. It was almost three years of suffering, hunger, cold, bombing, shelling and death. The Fuhrer decided to wipe Leningrad off the face of the earth. When the siege ring closed, there were 400,000 children in Leningrad – from babies to schoolchildren.
All its inhabitants rose to defend their native city. In a short time, it was turned into a fortified city. The city lived, fought and forged weapons for the coming victory; along with the adults, children and teenagers of Leningrad rose to defend their beloved city. They stood up to the machines at military factories, they were extinguishing fire bombs in attics, growing vegetables in the fields of state farms, taking care of the wounded and sick, fought in the partisan units. More than 5000 Leningrad teenagers were awarded medals for the defense of Leningrad.
Students became acquainted with one of the heroic pages in the history of our country – the events of the besieged Leningrad, with the concept of blockade. Throughout the class, the candle of memory was burning to commemorate those killed during the Great Patriotic War and the period of the Special Military Operation. Children read poems, watched a documentary “900 days of courage” and honored the memory of the victims with a minute of silence. The event ended with a discussion about the events taking place in our country and around the world, about the role of volunteering nowadays.
