On January 12, 2023, an employee of the department “Museum Street” of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Sagirova L. Sh. held an event on “Kul Gali is the founder of Tatar literature” for the students of Trekhozerskaya secondary school in the museum “Town on the River”.
Kul Gali was a Bulgar-Tatar poet, an outstanding representative of medieval Volga-Bulgarian Turkic literature. His most known poem “Qisa-i Yosif” written in 1233 was based on the Biblical-Koranic stories. The work is against evil, lies, and for human happiness. The poem played a great role in the culture of Volga Bulgaria and later in Turkic culture. More than 200 manuscript copies of the poem have been described in literature.
Pupils received information about Kul Gali and recalled a story from the Koran and the Bible about Yusuf and his brothers. They found the same lines in the poem and read them in Tatar and Russian. Children saw what copies of the pages of the poem look like, written in the 19th century.
The event was attended by 15 students.
