On 8 December 2022, employees of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization Zarifullina T.G., Kamayeva T.P. and Salnikova V.A. held an information-entertainment lesson “In a winter fairy tale time…” for the students of the 2nd grade of Bolgar secondary school №1. Fourteen schoolchildren were the participants of the event, the purpose of which was to acquaint children with the history of New Year.
New Year was celebrated in ancient Russia in March, when nature woke up from its winter slumber. Since XV century, people began to mark the holiday on September 1, after the harvest. Only 300 years ago, everything changed. In 1700, Tsar Peter I issued a decree that commanded to celebrate New Year on the night of January 1. On this day, everyone congratulated each other, decorated their homes with pine, juniper and spruce branches, organized fireworks, lit fires and candles. So with the light hand of Peter, New Year became a winter holiday. Children took part in a conversation about their most beloved, fabulous and magical holiday, told about how they celebrate the New Year, decorate the Christmas tree, what letters they write to Santa Claus. Kids remembered their favorite winter fairy tales and actively answered quiz questions.
On the eve of the holiday, you need to hold a Christmas tree ornament in your hands, this piece of magic, in which we want to believe in the New Year! The most expensive, beautiful and favorite Christmas decorations are handmade toys. Kids actively and enthusiastically made a Christmas tree of colored paper, an origami toy, and decorated it with colored balls. All participants received sweet gifts.
Children enjoyed the event and expressed a desire to meet again.
