On 24 October 2022, a staff member of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Usmanova D. O. held a lecture on “The Mongol conquest and its consequences” for tourists from the city of Volgograd.
The Golden Horde is one of the major medieval states. During the reign of Batu Khan, the territory stretched from the Altai Mountains in the east to the lower reaches of the Danube River in the west. The capital was originally called Sarai-Batu (the lower reaches of the Volga), then it was renamed Sarai Berke. Batu waged wars of conquest from 1235 and conquered many countries and states.
During the lecture, the guests learned about the peculiarities of the internal policy of the Golden Horde state, the reasons for its strengthening, the flourishing of trade and economic development.
