On 21 October 2022, a research associate of the department of museum-educational activities of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Vagapov R.Z. held an interactive-educational lesson on “Stone, wood, paper…” for the students of Spassky College of sectoral technology.
First, for many thousands of years, people learned to express their thoughts by sounds, and later the need to preserve and transmit information orally arose. So, step by step, modern civilization came to a completely different level of writing, without which today’s man cannot imagine himself. But the interest on what and how people wrote in ancient times, does not disappear but, on the contrary, is fueled by new discoveries in this area.
During the event, the students got acquainted with the evolution of writing materials in the history of mankind. They learned about the history of writing on clay boards, about the basics of knotty writing. The participants also became acquainted with the technology of parchment, papyrus and, of course, paper.
At the lesson, the students concluded that the best way to preserve information is paper.
