On 15 June 2022, a staff member of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Usmanova D. O. held an event on “Journey to Ancient Bolgar” for the children of a school camp of Kazan gymnasium №50.
More than 700 years ago, at the site of the present town of Bolgar, there was an ancient city Great Bolgar – the capital of Volga Bulgaria and since XIII century – the first capital of the Golden Horde.
During the event, children had a tour of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization and Museum of Koran. Kids became familiar with the past of the native land and craft traditions of Volga Bulgars. They also visited the central hillfort and saw medieval architectural monuments. After the event, schoolchildren answered the questions of a quiz and received magnets as a present.
