On 21 May 2022, on the day of official adoption of Islam by Volga Bulgaria, the festivities in honor of the 1100th anniversary of adoption of Islam “Izge Bolgar zhiyeny” took place in the territory of Bolgar Museum-Reserve. Within the framework of this celebration, the charitable foundation “Social welfare of Spassky district” together with Bolgar State Historical-Architectural Museum-Reserve implemented the project of “Theatrical reconstruction “Light of Islam in Bolgar” about the coming of Baghdad embassy in May 922 to the banks of Volga”. The project was carried out using a grant of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The project allowed to show and tell about that landmark event, which happened 1100 years ago and played an integrative role in the multi-ethnic state.
