Abdulla Alish is a famous Tatar writer and poet, author of children’s poems and stories, dramatic works. Alish’s biography begins in 1908 and counts only 36 years of the writer’s life. He was born in the village of Kayuki of Spassky district in Tatarstan. Since 1939, he was a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR. From the very beginning of the war, Alish was at the front where he was taken prisoner and was executed in 1944.
His first collection of stories “The pioneer squad banner” was published in 1931. A year later, a sketch “Kaban wins” about the construction of the Kazan power plant went out of print. In his battle sketches, Alish depicted the heroism of those days, when the people laid the foundation of socialism in our country. His story “At the light lake” (1933) is also dedicated to this great social theme. The collections of his stories for children “The waves”, “The oath” and collections of poems “My brother”, “Alone with Ilgiz” took a significant place in Tatar children’s literature. His wise and poetic fairy tales are also very popular. Alish is also the author of several dramatic works. He wrote two plays: “The Star” and “Neighbors.” In 1941, he wrote the play “Little prisoner”, which shows the bestial face of fascism. During the years of wandering through concentration camps, the poet created his best poems imbued with a burning hatred for the enemy, devotion to the homeland, love for his native people: “Fatherland,” “Song of death,” “Meeting,” “Native village” and many others.
On May 20, 2022, a research associate of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Musina G. M. held an event on “Alish is both a poet and a hero” for veterans of Spassky district. The event was devoted to the life, works and heroism of the Tatar poet-writer, storyteller A. Alish. The guests visited the museum of local history of Alish and became acquainted with the exhibits, documents, household items, personal belongings of his family. During the event, the visitors listened to excerpts from his works and studied his last letter to his mother. The event ended with a quiz on Alish’s fairy tales and a tour of the museum.
