On 20 May 2022, a staff member of the department “Museum Street” of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Sagirova L. Sh. held for schoolchildren a virtual historical excursion “Islam in Bolgar” in the library of the village Tri Ozera.
1100 years ago, Volga Bulgaria adopted Islam as the state religion. This event considerably influenced the creation of a unique Russian civilization connecting the traditions of West and East.
On 21 May 922, the Baghdad embassy came to the town of Bolgar – a political, economic and cultural center of Volga Bulgaria. Islam in the Volga Region provided a powerful impetus to the development of culture, which made important contributions to the common Muslim heritage in different fields of science, theology, high literature and art.
During the virtual excursion, children received information about the canons of Islam and the Holy book of Muslims, about a unique book “Notes of Ibn Fadlan” translated into Russian. Kids listened to some extracts from this book, heard the legend about sakhabs, saw the exhibition of books and magazines issued for the celebration of the 1100th anniversary of adoption of Islam.
