On 21 May 2022, in the territory of Bolgar Museum-Reserve celebrations were held in honor of the 1100th anniversary of official adoption of Islam by Volga Bulgaria “Izge Bolgar zhiyeny”.
This year, it was one of the largest events. Among the guests, there were the representatives of federal authorities, the participants of meeting of the Group of strategic vision “Russia-Islamic world”, of XIII International economic summit KazanSummit, more than 1100 participants of XII Forum of Tatar Muslim figures and others. The official opening of the holiday took place in the central part of Bolgar hillfort. President of the Republic of Tatarstan R. Minnikhanov welcomed the participants of the congress. After the welcoming words, tauba (the prayer of repentance) began at the Small minaret of Bolgar hillfort. Then the midday namaz took place at the Cathedral mosque.
During this holiday, a number of activities were carried out. Since the morning, a festival program with the concert of spiritual music and reading Koran opened on the main scene of the holiday. In the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization, an interactive platform “History of writing” worked where the guests got interesting information about the peculiarities of Tatar written language and calligraphy in the middle ages. In the territory of Archaeological school, a platform was organized for the participants of the horse-automobile race of the charitable foundation of disabled sportsmen “Idel-Ural”. The guests saw a theatrical performance telling about the way of Ibn Fadlan to Volga Bulgaria. In the territory of the museum, a photo exhibition “Izge Bolgar zhiyeny in the faces” was presented. Final fights in national wrestling Koresh were held. A fair of products of folk crafts from all over Russia worked at the holiday. In the evening on 20 and 21 May, light show took place on the walls of the White mosque.
During the day, all objects of Bolgar Museum-Reserve welcomed the guests of the holiday.
