On May 17, 2022, an employee of the excursion department of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Mukhamedov V.A. held an event on “Slavic Cyrillic” devoted to the Day of Slavonic Script and Culture for the students of the 8th grade of Bolgar secondary school № 2.
The spirit of a nation is in many ways contained in its language. Slavic peoples are no exception. The own form that a language has is not only in its pronunciation and meanings, but also in writing. The Slavs, of course, had no written language from the beginning, but in the course of historical events, being under the cultural influence of the Roman Empire, they were able to acquire many achievements of the modern civilization of that time including writing for their language.
During the event, the students learned about the history of emergence and development of Slavic writing, about the creators of Cyrillic – Cyril and Methodius, and knew about the differences between the modern and the initial Cyrillic.
