On 28 April 2022, a staff member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Gaifutdinova O. A. held an information-knowledge event on “Hospitability of the peoples of the Volga Region” for the students of Spassky College of sectoral technology.
Culture is a set of moral and ethical values forming the basis of national identity, one of the key symbols of Russian statehood and historical continuity. It is what unites us with other countries and peoples of the world. Culture is material and spiritual values gained by society, accumulation of epochs, time and nations fused with one another.
The Middle Volga region is a unique ethnographic region of East Europe located at the junction of Europe and Asia. Peoples living in the Volga region have much in common in economic and historical development as well as in origin, in culture and in everyday life.
We live in a multinational state where the equality of all peoples is approved by law: their religious freedom, mutual respect for the cultural specificities of every nationality. Contributing factors are common natural environment, environmental values, historical background, common economic interests in the past and in the present and humanistic values of culture. They serve the cause of inter-ethnic convergence in a mixed national environment, in inter-ethnic contact; contribute to overcoming linguistic barriers and promote the situation of intercultural dialogue.
During the event, the students became acquainted with the historical stages of emergence and development of national culture of the peoples of the Volga Region. The participants learned about the drinks consumed by the peoples of the Middle Volga region in IX-XVI centuries, about family traditions and culture of communication. At the end of the event, the students concluded that it is important to appreciate and remember culture and traditions of our ancestors who lived in the territory of the Volga Region.
