On April 26, 2022, an employee of the department of excursions of Bolgar Museum-Reserve M.N. Rogachyova held an information and entertainment event on “Light Easter” for pupils of the 3rd grade of Bolgar secondary school № 1.
Easter is one of the main Christian church holidays for believers in Russia and around the world. The celebration of Resurrection of the Lord in Russia has its own centuries-old traditions and customs. People await Easter with special impatience and inner trembling, because it is a double joy: the resurrection of the Savior of the human race and the coming of spring symbolizing the renewal of all living beings. The celebration of Easter in Russia is distinguished by a large number of interesting traditions, customs and rituals preserved to this day from ancient times.
During the event, children learned the history of this holiday, traditions and customs associated with the celebration of Easter in Russia. Students actively answered questions, read poems about the holiday, with great interest participated in the folk games, which were usually held in the old days in Russia on Easter. At the end, everyone received sweet prizes, and the most active participants received a painted egg – a symbol of the holiday of Light Easter and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
