On 31 March 2022, research associates Muhametshin J. G. and Muhametshin I. D. held a lecture on “Historical-cultural map of Spassky district” for the staff members of Bolgar Museum-Reserve and participants of the club “University of the third age”. The listeners became familiar with the historical monuments of Spassky district and the problems of their preservation. When the Kuibyshev reservoir was created, many monuments remained under water. Many of them are destroyed that is why it is important to preserve the monuments for posterity. Now, many years later, there has been renewed interest in the cultural heritage of our district.
Muhametshin I. D. told about archaeological monuments beginning with the Stone Age to the late middle ages. The historical-cultural map includes hundreds of archaeological monuments, and disappeared ones are among them.
A film of 1966 caused a great interest. The film featured restoration of Bolgar monuments and excavation of Tankeyevsky cemetery. At the end of the lecture, everybody listened to the song “White-winged song of the soul” based on lyrics of a local historian N. Maryanin.
