On 30 March 2022, staff members of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Musina G. M. and Usmanova D. O. held an event on “Grandma’s box” for the children of Bolgar kindergarten “Teremok”. The event was conducted within the Year of folk art and intangible cultural heritage of peoples of Russia.
The world and society change, and many good, new things come to replace obsolete foundations. It is important that people remember their national features. Each nation has its own customs and traditions, which are reflected in household items, in the works of art. If people want to live in peace with their neighbors, they should know and respect their specific features. Culture of any nation cannot be imagined without a national costume that is why the basis of this event was improving knowledge of ornament and national clothes, forming children’s love and respect for Tatar people.
During the event, kids became acquainted with the history of Volga Bulgaria and listened to the story about adoption of Islam by Bulgars. Children were especially interested in the biggest printed Koran in the world. A visit to the Museum of Koran made a lasting impression on them. Kids expressed a desire to be our little guests again.
