On 13 December 2021, staff members of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Salimova G. I. and Gaifutdinova O. A. within the project “Pushkin’s card” held a knowledge event on “Magic New Year” for the students of the 9th grades of Bolgar comprehensive school №1.
Before XVIII century, New Year was celebrated on 1 September. By the decree of Peter I, it was delayed to winter – to 1 January. Tsar ordered to make a spruce as the main Christmas tree. The tradition to decorate a tree during New Year holidays is rooted in history.
During the event, kids listened to material attentively and made with their hands unusual Christmas decorations of foamiran and beautiful beads. Each decoration was unique because children showed their resourcefulness and individuality.
Schoolchildren were extremely satisfied with the results of their work. It was really nice to see the kids’ happy faces because they give us new strength and inspiration for work.
