On 4 December 2021, a staff member of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Sagirova L. Sh. within the project “Pushkin’s card” held a lecture on “Theatre in Bolgar” for the students of Bolgar comprehensive school №1. The audience knew about theatrical productions of X century during the period of formation and development of Volga Bulgaria.
Theatre is miracle that humankind knows since ancient times. It is difficult to imagine ancient culture of any peoples without masks, costumed people and theatrical actions. Puppet theatre enjoys widespread use. Turkic peoples knew it since the old days.
Theatrical art of Volga Bulgars is reflected in the notes of the secretary of Baghdad Embassy Ibn Fadlan who visited Bulgaria at the dawn of Islamization and in other historical sources. These studies allow to speak of the existence of professional theatre in the court of Bulgar khan.
At the lecture, schoolchildren saw slides and graphic illustrations, which introduce to the methods of reconstruction of mythical and fairy tale characters.
