On 24 November 2021, a staff member of the museum and educational department of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Bitunova Yu. A. within the project “Pushkin’s card” held an event on “Children First” for the students of Bolgar comprehensive school №2. The event was devoted to the International Children’s Day.
On 20 November, the International Children’s Day is marked. This date was not chosen accidentally because on that day in 1959, the General Assembly adopted the Declaration on the Rights of the Child. The document combined 10 essentials and declared its ultimate purpose to “provide children with a happy childhood”. In 1989, the Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted. It obliges all countries to give children a beautiful life. A convention as the international document differs from a declaration that it is an obligation of a state to follow that international treaty exactly, and a declaration is just an appeal to peoples and states to observe the provisions it contains. According to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, a baby citizen is taken under the protection of the state from birth.
During the event, the students became acquainted with the history of emergence of the holiday, with their rights and duties. At the end, kids participated in a quiz and became familiar with the exposition of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization.
