On 21 October 2021, staff members of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Gaifutdinova O. A. and Sagirova L. Sh. within the project “Pushkin’s card” held an information-knowledge event on “Bolgar souvenir made with your hands” for the students of the 8th grade of Bolgar comprehensive school №2.
Kids visited the museum “The town on the river” where they had a lesson on “Wonderful world of fish”, became acquainted with the history of Spassk and knew what the residents of this uyezd town did. On the showcases of the museum, children saw a wide variety of fishing equipment, sinkers and fishhooks.
During the event, schoolchildren learned about useful properties of fish, knew the recipe of preparing Bolgar fish soup and the tradition of serving it. Kids with great interest listened to the excursion, asked questions about fishing and the sunken uyezd town of Spassk.
Then children had a master class in making a souvenir in the form of fish using clay and acrylics. The participants knew about the kinds of clay, the subtleties of rolling and burning it, the use of clay in pottery, medicine and cosmetology. Kids had an opportunity to take with them souvenirs made with their own hands.
