On 20 October 2021, in the exhibition area of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization opened an exhibit “From wooden bowl to porcelain plate”. It is devoted to the origin of tableware in Volga Bulgaria and the technology of its manufacture. The exhibition includes crockery from the fund collections of the museum-reserve: ceramics of XIII-XIV centuries, metal and porcelain dishes of the end of XIX-the beginning of XX centuries. Visitors can see the diversity of tableware and learn about the material for making utensils and the time when people began to use porcelain dishes, when the first kitchen utensils set appeared. In the exposition, there are items of different purposes: pots for milk, a pot for making porridge, ceramic bowls, cups, miniature clay jars, a birch box, porcelain teapots and dishes.
The students of Bolgar Children’s Art School participated in the opening of the exhibition. Kids knew about table etiquette and rules for table setting, with great passion and diligence trained to serve the table themselves.
The exhibition will work until November 24, 2021.
