On 2 October 2021, a staff member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Glavnova V. N. held an event on “Golden autumn” devoted to the International Day of Older Persons.
The Day of Older Persons is celebrated in the world on the first day of October. It has its logo: an open palm as the symbol of kindness and help. The holiday was established at the initiative of the United Nations in December 1990. The date for celebrating the holiday was not chosen accidentally. Many poets and writers always praised autumn as golden time, and oldness is also called the golden age.
During the golden autumn, we honor those who devoted all their strength and knowledge to people, who gave their health and youth to the younger generation. There is a reason that the second name of this day is the day of good and respect. We should thank them because knowledge and wisdom of older persons can contribute immensely in human resources development and in ensuring sustainable economic development.
For the veterans and pensioners of Bolgar Museum-Reserve, an interactive excursion “A walk in Bolgar” was held. The guests visited the museum expositions and the territory of Bolgar hillfort, participated in the master class “Bulgar motifs”. Using stained glass painting, they made with their hands a vase with stained Bulgar pattern and took it with them as a souvenir.
At the end of the event, a friendly tea party with treats was organized for the guests.
