On 30 July 2021, in Bolgar, in the conference hall of the Memorial Sign, the all-Russian seminar “Current problems of medieval archaeology of the Volga-Ural region” took place. It was devoted to the 70th anniversary of a doctor of historical sciences, a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of RT Khuzin F. Sh.
Reports devoted to the medieval history of the Middle Volga region were presented at the seminar. It is a sphere of scientific interests of F. Sh. Khuzin. Research associates of Bolgar Museum-Reserve J. G. Muhametshin and I. D. Muhametshin made presentations.
A report of J. G. Muhametshin “Significance of Samanid and West-European coins in defining the territory of early Bolgar” was about numismatic finds in the territory of Bolgar. This source is very important to study topography of Bolgar and its certain areas. Coins emphasize economic activity and trade with many countries.
A report of I. D. Muhametshin “The problem of neighborhood of Bolgar in historiography” was devoted to the study of archaeology of urban and rural neighborhood in historiography. Many archeologists studied this theme, and each of them addressed this issue in accordance with the subject of a study.
The rich program of the seminar caused great scientific interest. At the end of the seminar, a gala dinner was organized for the participants.
