On 5 June 2021, in the territory of Bolgar Museum-Reserve took place another anniversary of adoption of Islam by Volga Bulgars in 922 “Izge Bolgar zhyeny”. Many guests and pilgrims from different regions of Russia and other countries come annually to these celebrations.
The holiday officially opened near the museum and exhibition complex “Memorial Sign in honor of adoption of Islam by Volga Bulgars in 922”. The President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov welcomed the participants of a traditional congress of Muslims.
The State Adviser of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Marat Khusnullin, the Prime Minister of RT Aleksey Pesoshin, mufti of Tatarstan Kamil khazrat Samigullin, heads of ministries and departments of RT, heads of districts of the republic and other guests of honor attended the celebration.
During the festival “Izge Bolgar zhyeny”, at the site of Bolgar Islamic Academy took place the meeting devoted to issues related to the preparations and organization of the 1100th anniversary of adoption of Islam by Volga Bulgaria. Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Marat Khusnullin held this meeting.
This year, there was an extensive and interesting program where All-Russian belt wrestling tournament, selling exhibition of national art crafts of RT, a fair of halal food etc. took place. During the event, also worked an interactive platform devoted to the history of writing where guests learned about the peculiarities of Tatar written language and calligraphy in the Middle Ages. All sites of Bolgar Museum-Reserve had visitors during the day.
All those present took part in the midday namaz at the Cathedral mosque. The celebration continued with the holiday concert of religious songs.
