On 1 June 2021, a research associate of the museum and educational department of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Krivosheyeva S. V. held an event on “Ancient Bolgar through the eyes of children” devoted to International Children’s Day.
At the event, children knew that Children’s Day is one of the oldest international holidays. A decision to conduct it was made in Geneva in 1925 on the World Conference devoted to the welfare of the child.
After World War II, when problems of preserving children’s health and well-being were more relevant than ever, in 1949 in Paris there was the Congress of Women. There sounded an oath of tireless struggle for sustainable peace as the sole guarantee of children’s happiness. The same year, the holiday was established at Moscow session of the Council of the Women’s International Democratic Federation. In a year, on 1 June 1950 the first International Children’s Day was held. Now this holiday is an annual event.
During the activity, schoolchildren became acquainted with museum objects and architectural monuments of XIII-XIV centuries. At the end, kids expressed their impressions of the visit to Ancient Bolgar as drawings on asphalt.
