On 1 June 2021, staff members of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Rogachyova M. N. and Gaifutdinova O. A. held an interactive and knowledge event on “Children are the way to the future” devoted to International Children’s Day.
Children’s Day is one of the oldest international holidays celebrated on 1 June since 1950 around the world. The Women’s International Democratic Federation decided to hold this holiday at the special session in November 1949. The United Nations supported this initiative and announced protection of children’s rights, life and health as one of its priority activities.
International Children’s Day is, above all, a reminder for adults about the need to respect children’s rights to life, to freedom of expression and religion, to education, rest and leisure, to protection from physical and psychological violence. International Children’s Day is always celebrated through various activities.
On this festive day, schoolchildren made a journey into the past. They walked around the central part of Bolgar hillfort, became acquainted with the history of Bolgar town and its unique monuments of Muslim architecture of XIII-XIV centuries, heard the legends connected with them. During the event, walking down the Khan’s path to the Historical quay, children learned the names of rulers, poets and scholars of Volga Bulgaria, played ancient games. Kids made a fascinating travel to the ancient town, knew many new things and carried little commemorative gifts and bright impressions with them.
