On 15 May 2021, staff members of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Gaifutdinova O. A. and Muhametshin I. D. held an evening theatrical excursion on “Scientific developments in medicine of Volga Bulgaria” for tourists and local residents. The tour was held within the framework of action “Night of museums”.
Participants of the thematic excursion took a walk in the territory of ancient town immersing themselves in the atmosphere of legends and stories. They visited architectural monuments of XIII-XIV centuries – the legendary Black Chamber, tented shrines – the Northern and Eastern mausoleums, the majestic Cathedral Mosque and Khan’s Palace. In the museum “Healer’s House”, the guests had a theatrical excursion. A “Healer” himself told about the development of medicine in medieval times, about medical books and items preserved until today. These things are an excellent source for studying the characteristics of spread of scientific knowledge in Volga Bulgaria and illuminating the history of development of medical science of Tatar people.
Evening gave a special atmosphere and mystery to the tour: the day fading away, medieval architecture at sunset and quiet landscapes of Volga.
