On 14 April 2021, a staff member of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Ahundov N. O. held an event on “We were the first” for the students of Bolgar Children’s Art School. The activity was devoted to the first human flight into space.
On 12 April 1961, there was the world’s first space flight with a man on board the ship. Scientists, constructors-testers and people of many other professions were involved in preparing this great flight. A pilot-cosmonaut also had been chosen long.
What a cosmonaut should be? Brave, strong, organized. An astronaut should have strong health because he experiences extreme overload during takeoff and landing. In space, he will be in a state of zero gravity, and it is quite a challenge.
After long tests and discussions, a decision was taken that Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin would be the first cosmonaut in the world.
Finally, the day came when Yuri Gagarin made a space flight on a spaceship “Vostok” on 12 April 1961. During 108 minutes, a spacecraft-satellite flew around the globe and returned successfully to Earth.
Then there was the solemn meeting in Red Square. In a few hours, Yuri Gagarin became the most famous person in the world. When a government report about the great flight was broadcast on the radio, streets of the country were full of crowds of people. Everyone wanted to welcome the first cosmonaut in the world, the Son of Earth, the Citizen of the Universe.
During the event, children knew how the first flight was prepared, learned about the first woman-astronaut and other cosmonauts, saw the photos of our planet from space. At the end, a group photo was taken.
