On 19 March 2021, staff members of Bolgar Museum-Reserve G. T. Gumerova, G. H. Kabirova, L. A. Sabirova and L. Sh. Sagirova held a holiday event on “Nowruz” for the students of the 5th-8th grades of a comprehensive school of the village Tri Ozera.
Nowruz is a holiday of the spring equinox and the beginning of a new agricultural year of Turkic-speaking peoples. The holiday marked on 21 March symbolizes renewal of nature and humans, purification of the soul and the beginning of new life. It is the most venerated holiday of many peoples.
Once upon a time on that day, traders closed their shops, craftsmen stopped their work, and everybody had fun and gave each other various dishes. At the event, children knew the history of emergence of the holiday, actively participated in an intellectual quiz and played games. Such fairytale heroes as Winter and Baba Yaga also came to children and held merry games – sack races, jumping across fire etc.
This event let kids plunge into the festive atmosphere, once again join in national culture and traditions of Tatar people.
The holiday ended with a tea party and giving commemorative gifts.
