On 22 December 2020, a staff member of the department “Museum Street” of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Sabirzyanova L. I. held an event on “New Year’s customs and traditions”.
Russia is rich in its traditions, customs and folk holidays. New Year is the most wonderful holiday in the world. In the New Year, all people have fun, sing, dance and congratulate each other.
The traditions of celebrating New Year have their roots in the distant past. Originally, New Year was celebrated on 1 March, on 1 September in Russia. Later, when Peter I issued a decree, a decision was taken to celebrate the new year of 1700 on 1 January.
During the event, children learned about the history of emergence of the holiday, about the traditions and customs of celebration in Russia and in other countries of the world. At the end, kids made colorful New Year’s cards.
