On 22 December 2020, staff members of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Galimullina N. R. and Gaifutdinova O. A. held a lecture on “Bolgar ornament” for the students of Bolgar sanatorium-type residential school. The activity took place in the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization.
Ornament is a pattern, which decorates items of different shapes and sizes from jewelry to architectural buildings. It always reflected nature and items, images, which were symbolically significant for a person. That is why in ancient ornaments we can see the outside world and natural phenomena, specific to the life of our distant ancestors. Finds of archaeologists found during the research of ancient Bolgar town prove that Bulgar masters achieved significant progress in the development of ornaments discovered on various household items.
During the lecture, schoolchildren listened to an interesting information about the development of ancient patterns and made with their hands New Year’s cards with the image of Bolgar ornament. At the end, kids completed the task – to find a fragment of used ornament in the exposition of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization.
