On 21 December 2020, a staff member of Bolgar Museum-Reserve G. T. Gumerova held a museum lesson on “The legends of Ancient Bolgar” for the students of Bolgar special boarding school for children with limited opportunities.
From ancient times, Bolgar preserves the history of an ancient town full of mysteries and amazing but controversial legends. Legend is a kind of not fairy tale prosaic folklore. It is a written story of historical events or persons. Legends, as a rule, were oral narratives often set to music. Wandering storytellers passed them down by word of mouth. Later, lots of legends were recorded.
At the museum lesson, the students heard many legends related to the town of Bolgar. One of these legends is connected with the architectural monument “Black chamber”, which is the most preserved monument of Bolgar architecture.
