On 4 December 2020, the head of the exhibition complex “Memorial Sign” held an event on “Opportunities are limited, abilities are endless” in conjunction with the Decade of Disabled Persons for the students of Bolgar special boarding school for children with limited opportunities. At the event, the kids knew about people who managed to overcome the difficulties of life and found themselves in profession, in sport, in art and literature serving as an example for everybody.
The beginning of December is traditionally marked as the Decade of Disabled persons. It is timed to the International Day of Disabled persons celebrated on 3 December since 1993 under a United Nations mandate. The Decade of Disabled persons is held with the purpose to create public awareness about the problems of people with disabilities and to change preconceived notions of invalids as people who are disabled and incapable of living in modern society. The International Day of Persons with Disabilities reminds everyone of those who need support and assistance. At the same time, these courageous and spiritually strong people show their talents in professional mastery and art, in amateur creative activity and sport.
