On 17 November 2020, under the rubric “The history of one exhibit” for your attention there are a miniature Koran and its case. Bolgar is a place where Volga Bulgars – ancestors of Tatar people – adopted Islam officially in 922. On 21 May 2012, solemnly opened the “Memorial Sign” symbolizing an important historic mission of Bolgar in adoption of Islam. It is a unique museum complex, which introduces the guests to a sacred book of Muslim.
In the exposition, there are also items of arts and crafts connected with Muslim traditions of the middle Volga region. This day, we pay special attention to miniature Korans and cases for the book made of silver dating from the end of XIX – the beginning of XX centuries; a pendant with ayat “Al-Kursi” made of carnelian; a miniature Koran with a case and a loupe taken on a trip.
