On 11 November 2020, a staff member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Sabirzyanova L. I. held an offline information-knowledge event on “The end of the First World War”.
The First World War of 1914-1918 is one of the most wide-scale military conflicts in human history. The causes of the war: the worsening conflicts between the major Powers; the struggle to change the world between the military-political blocks of European powers – the Entente and the Triple Alliance; the struggle for domination on the world market and for the seizure of new areas.
The results of the First World War were the February and October revolutions in Russia and the November revolution in Germany, the liquidation of four empires: Russian, German, Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian. The last two empires were divided, cut territorially and weakened economically. Germany and Russia stopped being monarchies. The attitude of revenge in Germany actually led to World War II.
The losses of the Armed Forces of all states-participants of world war were about 10 million people. Still there is no generalized data on the losses of civilian population from the effects of hostilities. Famine and epidemics caused by the war became the cause of death at least of 20 million people. Economic and domestic problems in other warring governments were more severe than in Russia – even in France and England, not to mention Germany and Austro-Hungary.
During the event, the guests of the site knew about the causes, aims, the character, the scope and findings of the war.
