On 28 October 2020, a staff member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Mukhamedov V. A. held a lecture on “The battle of nations” for the students of the 7th grades of Bolgar sanatorium-type residential school.
From 16 to 19 October 1813, took place the battle, which went down in history of military art forever. This fight is called the Battle of Leipzig but most often, it is known under more poetic name – “the battle of nations”. Large numbers of soldiers from different European countries participated in it. Germans, Austrians, Russians, Swedes, French and Italians fought in the battle.
It is no wonder that this battle is named so. It decided greatly the fate of the Napoleonic Wars – who would be the winner. The Russian troops were among the winners and covered themselves in glory. That is why we should know about this almost world-class event.
During the lecture, the students learned about the previous events and the tide of the battle and effects of this fight on the history of all Europe.
