Further and further from us is a tragic time when the war ravaged our Fatherland, when life and death were around every hour, when the Soviet people did the unthinkable in spite of all hardship and misery – they defeated fascist Germany. The Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 cost the lives of over 27 million human beings. 13311 people from our Kuibyshevsky (Spassky) district went to the front. 6245 persons returned from the war, and 4027 died staying the soldiers of the Great Patriotic War forever. Missing persons are 3039. During the war, more than 225 natives of the republic received the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Five our fellow countrymen are among them.
The kids listened carefully to the information about our compatriots and their heroic deeds. Children saw the photographs of the heroes and of their monuments, talked lively and asked many questions.
At the end, it was found that the war of 1941-1945 was the Great Patriotic War for the Soviet people, and they came together facing with the threat of enslavement and destruction. Roots of the victory were heroism and courage of the fighters and commanders of the Red Army and unparalleled labor feats of all workers on the home front.
