On 9 October 2020, staff members of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization Zarifullina T. G., Kamayeva T. P. and Salnikova V. A. held an information and knowledge event on “The past fate of my land…” for the pensioners of the primary veterans’ organization of Nikolskoye rural settlement of Spassky municipal district of RT. The activity was held in the framework of the decade of older persons.
The event hosts congratulated the veterans on the International Day of Older Persons and told about the history of its emergence, importance and peculiarity. The world celebrates this holiday on the first day of October. On that day, older persons – our grandmothers and grandfathers, age-old housemates and colleagues at work – receive attention. The holiday was established at the initiative of the UN in December 1990. This date was chosen not coincidentally. It is autumn hailed by all poets and writers as golden time, and ageing as it turns out, is known as golden time, too. The sunset of life brings the same happiness as other periods of lifetime. The holiday has its own logo – the open palm as a symbol of kindness and help. In Russia, this day has another interesting name – the Day of kindness and respect. On 1 October, in our country, people do not just congratulate the elderly, on that day, the younger generation is reminded that it is important to remember and respect old age. Because these people once gave us life, raised and made us who we are now.
This year, our republic celebrates its birthday – the 100th anniversary of the formation of TASSR. A brief excursion into the history was brought to the attention of pensioners – they watched a video “The history of TASSR in 10 minutes”. At the end of the film, all veterans received small booklets on the monuments of the reserve. Because this was their first visit to the museum-reserve, the guests had an extensive tour of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization, the Memorial sign, the museum “Bolgar tea party” and the museum “The town on the river”. The veterans also had bright pictures in memory and desire to visit our museum-reserve more than once.
