On 6 October 2020, staff members of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization Zarifullina T. G., Kamayeva T. P. and Salnikova V. A. held an information and knowledge event on “My years are my wealth” devoted to the International Day of Older Persons. The activity was held for the pensioners of the veteran organization of the Council of Spassky municipal district of RT and for the representatives of volunteer organizations.
At the event, it was told about the history of emergence of the holiday, its importance and specificities. The International Day of Older Persons is celebrated on 1 October. The UN General Assembly adopted this decision in 1990. People in the Russian Federation began to celebrate this day in 1992. Now every year in golden autumn, we honor those who dedicated all strength and knowledge, health and youth to their people and the younger generation. The International Day of Older Persons is a special day for senior citizens all over the world. There are 600 million people in the world aged 60 or over. In our rapidly aging world, “the veterans of life” will increasingly play a decisive role giving their experience and knowledge, helping their families. Chairman of the Council of veterans’ organizations of Spassky municipal district Burumova T. N. told about children and youth organizations, which existed in the Soviet Union. A volunteer leader of the district Vasiliev Egor introduced the veterans to the youth organizations of Russia and our district.
The guests shared their memories and great life experience. Between the veterans and volunteers, there was a quiz on the history of the Republic of Tatarstan “I know and love Tatarstan!” and a humorous quiz “Hybrid”. Friendship won, as always! Everybody actively participated in the contests “Guess the price” and “Guess what this thing is”. The audience watched with great interest a video dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Republic of Tatarstan. The guests also visited the exhibition “The 100th anniversary of the formation of TASSR. The history of the state symbols”, the photo exhibition of old photographs “Great Bolgar” and the exhibit of the unique collection of masterpieces of nature “Brazil agates”. At the end of the meeting of two generations, there was a tea party in a warm and friendly atmosphere and a tour of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization.
