On 5 October 2020, a staff member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Gaifutdinova O.A. held a video event on “Autumn holiday” in honor of Harvest festival.
Autumn is a generous, rich and hospitable time. Vegetables are ripe in the gardens, grain – in the fields, mushrooms and berries – in the forests. From ancient times, the Russian people celebrated autumn holiday as a special joyous holiday – a holiday of gratitude to nature for a bountiful harvest.
People began to celebrate autumn holiday in ancient Russia. On that day, our ancestors said goodbye to summer and met autumn with fun. The point is that autumn always was the happiest time of the year for the Slavs because fieldwork was finally over, and our forefathers had a peculiar “vacation season”.
During the event, the audience became familiar with the history of emergence of the holiday and knew about the traditions of celebrating this day. In a master class, the guests had an opportunity to learn how to make a puppet-charm “Zernushka”.
