On 28-30 August 2020, a research assistant of the Centre for the Study of Bolgar civilization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve, candidate of historical sciences Muhametshin D. G. organized an expedition with the purpose of research and monitoring of monuments of historical and cultural heritage in West Kama region. Participants of the expedition visited Chistopolsky, Novosheshminsky, Aksubayevsky, Alekseyevsky districts of Tatarstan. Nearby the largest city of Bilyarsk, the II Gorkinskoye town was examined. In Novosheshminsky district, the town of Tubylgytau and a cemetery of time of the Golden Horde were explored. Interesting finds were found in Chistopol. At the town cemetery, three new Bulgar gravestones of XIII-XIV centuries were discovered. Further research will show if these monuments relate to a big Bulgar city of Dzhuketau or to another settlement.
More than 50 Arabic epigraphic monuments of XIX-XX centuries were also studied. It was obvious that townspeople care about their heritage. The cemetery is in good repair. There are sheds over Bulgar monuments protecting them from weather conditions. Probably, in the future individual monuments will become the links of a new tourist route.
