On 1 September 2020, a staff member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Salimova G. I. held an event on “Hello, school!” dedicated to the Day of knowledge.
The Day of knowledge is celebrated in our country on 1 September every year. It received its name because it is the first day of autumn when a new school year begins in all Russian schools and institutions of secondary and higher education. The Day of knowledge is a holiday for all pupils, students, their parents, teachers and those people who is somehow linked to services for schoolchildren and students.
On 1 September in all localities of our country, there are large numbers of smartly dressed first-graders going to school with a bunch of flowers. On the Day of knowledge, ceremonial lines and traditional lessons of peace are held for them. The first school bell rings and the songs about school sound for first-graders. School papers are painted for them. The pupils of other classes also have a cause for celebration because they meet with their favorite teachers and school friends again.
It is worth recalling some historical facts about this day. Originally, all peoples celebrated this day as the harvest feast. In our country at the time of Peter I, it was a tradition to celebrate New Year on this day. Then it was decided to postpone New Year’s Day to 1 January on the model of European countries.
Participants of the event knew about the history of emergence of this day and congratulated each other on the holiday of 1 September.
